The Internet is a jungle. Before we set up Netistrar we were forced to turn to offshore providers to help us manage our web assets: Domain Names, Professional Email setup, and Website Hosting.

We kept getting impacted by the inevitable merges, consolidation, offshore support, and creeping-up prices.

Building a British Domain and Email Wholesale Business.

Although the UK is somewhat behind the game of Software Development when compared to the Silicon Giants, we clearly have a huge talent of software developers, and at the heart of Netistrar is the team at Oxford Information Labs who have a stake in the Netistrar business.

Together with Emily Taylor (Netistrar Founder) and Andrew Bennett (CEO), who both share a wealth of experience in Domain Name Management, we decided to setup our own Domain Name and Email Wholesaler, offering Internet Resources to professional customers at Trade Prices. Given our niche experience, our strategy at the outset was to found the whole business as an ICANN Accredited Registrar.

What is an Accredited Registrar?

An Accredited Registrar is a technical provider licensed to sell Domain Names globally, and configure them to route internet traffic towards internet resources (such as Email and Websites), and more.

There are hundreds of players in the Domain Name accreditation game and in the UK they are predominantly; ICANN the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers who provide accreditation for the global providers (.COM, .ORG, etc) ; and Nominet, who have been granted the right to manage .UK domains and the .UK portfolio (.co.uk, .org.uk and more) as a not-for-profit organisation. Netistrar has acheived the highest level of accreditation they able to offer.

What does this mean for you, the customer?

As a Netistrar customer, you are able to manage complex internet resources: Domain Names, Email and more, all from a single dashboard. You can manage those resources on behalf of yourself or others, and optionally offers those services as your own (as a Reseller) adding your own profit and setting your own margins.

As your business grows, we have options for more seamless integration through a suite of plugins, our REST API, whitelabel packaging, and bespoke software integration and development.

Our results so far

Since becoming established in 2013, Netistrar has continued to grow, and we now provide mission-critical backend services to hundreds of customers, including Public Services Providers, and the UKs Biggest Independently owned Hosting Provider. Together with Oxford Information Labs, we continue to develop a number of services, extending our catalogue of Domain Name and Business Email services.

You don’t have to be a business to set up a Trade Account with Netistrar.
